PROUDLY PRODUCED ON PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND WITH CARE

RECEIVER ROASTERY

DOING GOOD AND MAKING GREAT COFFEE ON PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND

Since opening our doors in June 2014, Receiver Coffee Company has been driven by one simple goal: to share exceptional coffee with honesty, care and connection. From day one, we’ve focused on buying transparently sourced beans and roasting with great care to bring out the beauty of every coffee.

We’ve also learned that incredible coffee alone isn’t enough. The specialty coffee industry faces real challenges around sustainability and equity, and we believe businesses like ours have a responsibility to do better. That’s why we’ve built long-term relationships with producers and coffee professionals who share our values, people working toward a more sustainable, respectful, and consistent future for coffee

To us, coffee is about community. It's a daily ritual that brings people together, sparks conversation, and connects us across the world. We hope our passion and excitement for it inspire others to engage with the global coffee community and seek out the story behind what's in their cup.

We’re proud to be rooted in Prince Edward Island, fueled by our community and inspired by the belief that doing good and making great coffee can go hand in hand.

The coffee, start to finish

Our Coffee

Great coffee doesn't start at the roaster. It starts with a farmer, a harvest, a decision about how to process and care for something that took so much effort to grow. At Receiver, we take that seriously, and it shapes every choice we make about what we buy, how we roast it, and how we talk about it.

How we source

We work with importers and trading partners who build direct, lasting relationships with producers, buy at the prices farmers ask for, invest in their communities, and stay through the hard seasons, not just the good ones. We're proud to work with partners like Semilla and JA Coffee, whose sourcing philosophies align with ours: quality and equity aren't competing values; they reinforce each other.

We look for coffees that have something to say, coffees with character, clarity and a story worth sharing. The buying partners we work with source from producers around the world whose hard work shows up in the cup, highlighting sweetness, balance, and complexity. Every coffee on our menu is there because of the people and the place behind it, not just what we taste.

How we roast

Our roastery sits at the heart of everything we do. We roast to highlight what’s already there, the natural sweetness, acidity, and body that meticulous farming and careful processing create. We don’t roast to impose. We roast to let the coffee tell its story.

Every lot gets its own approach, shaped through careful sampling and a lot of honest cupping. The result is a rotating lineup of single origins and blends that reflect where the coffee came from, the people who grew it, and why we love it.

Our Green Bean Buying Partners

Semilla Coffee - Montreal www.semilla.ca

Semilla approaches coffee as something far bigger than a beverage. For their team, every green lot carries the weight of history, culture, and the livelihoods of the people who grew it, and that perspective shapes everything about how they source.

Semilla commits deeply to specific communities, working alongside producers who have the passion and potential to connect with the specialty market but haven't always had the access. They listen to what producers actually need, meet the prices they ask, and invest in the infrastructure that helps them thrive long-term. It's slow, steady, relationship-driven work, and it's exactly the kind of sourcing philosophy we want behind the coffees we roast and serve.

JA Coffee - Montreal www.jacoffee.com

JA Coffee was founded in 2018 with a simple but focused mission: source exceptional green coffee and build real relationships at origin. The Montreal-based team works directly with producers to bring traceable, specialty-grade lots to roasters across North America.

What drew us to JA Coffee is the same thing that drives us — a genuine commitment to quality, transparency, and doing things right from farm to roastery. They're a small, hands-on team that cares deeply about the people and places behind every coffee they source, and those shared values make them a natural partner for Receiver.
